Fuel cutoff or inertia switch?
I have a 96-98 civic ex
I read up somewhere on these forums that there is an electrical relay switch under the dash near the hood release. Now my question is that on impact with another vehicle or a flip of the car, will this switch cut off the fuel pump or even unlock the doors? |
about the only manufacturer i know of that uses a fuel pump cut off would be ford motor co. I am fairly sure that it wouldn't unlock your doors in case of an accident.

Erm, not exactly -- my previous SAAB (pre-GM), BMW and both Jaguars (pre-Ford) had inertia switches which in the event of an accident or upset, the fuel would shut off, doors would disengage and petrol flap would lock. I'm not sure on this vehicle though. Anyone know if they have one on Oblivion's car or a '95 Honda Civic EX either? Cheers, Matt |

I believe the only thing along those lines on some Hondas, might turn on the hazards in an accident. Not sure, it's possible that my hand just hit the button in those accidents :oh:
Ford was the only company I was aware of with the fuel cut-off also http://blogsap.files.wordpress.com/2...e_you_know.jpg that design is ghey though IMO |
Thanks!
