I have a 97 civic ex and i just blew the motor up and i wanted to know if i could put a bigger engine in without having to change transmission or cpu or the wiring cause i'm having a hard time finding a d16y8????

 

You will at least have to change the trans. First off what exactly are you looking to do and what is your budget?

 

the d16y7 will bolt right in. they are cheap. check ebay

 

I had a Vtec i either want another 1.6vtec or something a little bigger just not sure if a bigger engine will work with my stock stuff but if it wont then i have to keep looking for the same as what i had.

 

I have a Y8 that needs overhauled...I shredded a bearing and all the shavings were in the oil pan so there is a chance they are through out the engine...just let me know

 

whats blown? is it just the piston rings or did it throw a rod threw the block? your engine could be salvageable if the damage isn't that bad.

 

I'm not sure i don't think anything came through the motor and it still started unbelievably just made alot of noise n wouldn't go anywhere. but it's not out of the car yet trying to find another engine to replace it then i can rebuild that one for a spare i guess!

 

How are you certain its the engine?
If the car isnt moving can it be the tranny?

 

:werd: id check the tranny if your car doesnt move, alot of moving parts that have to mesh to work
