Ok, I just started noticing this after I did the brakes and replaced rotors. Wheile turning (only while turning) I hear a clunking noise coming from the from rith tire (pretty sure thats where it is). And sometimes when I cruise at low speeds, I can hear my rear brake rubbing (well at least it sounds like thats what it is. But the brakes arent locked, I can spin the tires freely when the car is lifted. What should I look for? Thanx

 

Your CV boot sounds ripped and you have no lubrication on it. Time for new axles. Go to Autozone. $60 or so per side. I had to take mine back three times because they kept giving me the wrong ones. They replaced them without a hassle. h:

Do you have rear disc? If so, and the rubbing is intermittent, your rotor could be old and warping.

 

But if the boot was ripped, wouldn't there be alot of grease splashing around? My friends cv boot ripped and threw that vaseline crap all over and you could see it coming out... Last time I checked mine looked clean w/o any tears, but that was a month ago and I've been doing some burnouts (i heard that can mess them up). Thanx I'll check them out again

Yes I did put the screws back, but I did not tighten them too hard since the screws are pretty crapped after my attempt to remove them h:. Is this a problem?

 

It could be. You might wanna get back under there and make sure everything is tight. Investing in a torque wrench, and torquing down important bolts/screws is important.

 

I do have a torque wrench and I did use it on all the bolts, especially the ones that hold the caliper. I don't know what to do. What signs should I look for?

 

Well, it still sounds like your axle. I'm sure there's someone at a local shop that can take a ride with you to verify. What part of Cali are you in?

 

I live in sacramento. Thanx tho. I'll look into it closely this weekend. What about the brake rubbing noise? The brakes aren't locking up or anything...

 

Maybe call around and see if there's a local shop that'll do a free brake inspection. They might take a ride with you.
