Default cd player

I'm looking to get a car mp3 player.. I know little about car audio, and can afford little more than a nice radio at the moment. My price range is $275 and below. I have seen, what appear to be, some good deals on ebay, such as the Pioneer7400MP for $230.

What should I look for in a good head unit? The pioneer one says '22 watts RMS/50 watts peak x 4 channels', vs. a $130 45wattx4 Jensen. The pioneer says it comes with a built-in amp? Is that just fluff, or what "The built-in MOSFET50 amp will fire up your speakers."

I got stock speakers, but would like to get the most out of them I can. What stats should I be looking at for a head unit..?

And lastly, how hard is it to install one yourself...

The Jensen unit that you mentioned will have a mosfet amp in it also. I don't know what you are looking for, but, atleast in my opinion, a cd player is a cd player. look for a 45 or 50 watt that you like, and go with that.

They take nothing to install. you need to get the head unit, and a wiring harness that will fit your car. Wire the harness that you bought to the other harness that comes with the head unit with some butt-connectors, and plug it in where the old head unit used to be.

The wiring of the harnesses should take like 15-20 minutes for a beginner, and the install of the deck into the dash is a piece of cake.

don't use deck power..... nevermind.... just use it.

if ur hardcore into sound quality and luv systems ( me ), then u'll get an amplifier for ur speakers.... STOCK SPEAKERS?? LOL WHAT ARE U THINKING, u could get good sounding 6 1/2's for ur del sol for like 70 bucks a piece. and they'll sound at least 4 times better. and get an amp for ur speakers... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1385061422

jbl 180.2... great amp with tons of power for little price. recommended.. (i'm using an alpine digital for my speakers...).......

well...... i recommend any alpine decks. best in the business. u won't regret buying one.
