help: car makes a rattling sound at idle
sounds like its in the dash but not sure. if i put the brake on (while stopped) it goes away sometimes. any ideas? at first i thought it was a motor mount but wasnt that. anyone?
thanks brandon |
maybe your glovebox or exhaust
hm......stock exhaust and it doesnt sound like its coming from the clove box either. more towards the top of the dash
pop your hood and look around, maybe it's one of those zip ties holding your wires tight came loose
It gos away when you hit the brakes, loose rotor splash shield? I have seen loose exhaust heat shield pop welds or lose bolts. Is it louder inside or outside the car (stick you head out the window).
Nice avatar lol. |
i have that same problem, it hasnt been doing it lately but it usually is bad when its cold or rainy...real annoying, let me know if you figure it out
still no luck. when the car warms up is when it does it. sometimes when i hit the brakes it stops. ill keep looking to figure out. ill keep ya posted
My car has an occasional rattle that sounds like it's coming from the engine bay but I haven't stuck my head out the window to see if it's louder outside yet.
I've only noticed it since it's been colder out and it only happens when I first start driving the car, not when it's stationary. I've lost a couple of washers in the engine bay so I figured it was those but I can't remember if I noticed the rattle before or after I did that... |
since i said something about it the other day mine started doing it too. it only does it when it's cold outside so im guessin some rubber or foam in the dash got cold and shrunk. not that i have previous experience of things shrinking when it's cold
lol. yeah maybe. im in florida tho and it really hasnt been cold. i guess its colder than norm so maybe
