Anyone riding on 16's?
 

I just got a set of rims (MB Motoring :oh: but they were $90 a rim) that are 16x7's. The tires are 205/50/16's.

now, I relize now that I should have gotten 45 series, since last night when I was driving with 3 friends in the car, I was getting tire rubbing (and this is on stock suspension). Here's the questions:

- Can I keep these tires, or should I take them back and get new ones?

- Anyone with 16's and non-stock suspensions, whats your setup?

also, any other info I'd benifit from would be good, too.

im no 205/40/16s on arospeed lowering springs...i have a finger gap from tire to fender in the front and about 3 in the back...im getting 45 series tires when i get a chance, i would take them back and tell them they gave you the wrong size tires.

thats what I'm thinking of doing here in a second. I'm glad the sales person said I should get 50 series, since it gives me room for argument.

But then again, with my stock springs, I kinda want to stick to 50 series, since I have 3 finger gap up front and 2 1/2 in back..... But I won't be on stock springs forever....

IMHO i think 50 series tires are to chunky for 16s...youll be happier w/ the 45s...if they are tire people they should have known you needed 45s in the first place

I agree you should take them back. I am running on 16's that are 45 series on stock suspension and I never have had rubbing. You will notice that they will find groove and ruts in the road more then thinner tires.

Go with the 205/45/16's

lol, I think it's funny that you two are baggin on the tire shop! They were trying to help you protect your rims from pot holes, and road debris! I had 45's on my 17's and bent em in 2 months... Now I've got 50's on my 15's and they kick ass. Better ride, more rim protection, etc. But you have to keep in mind is that with aftermarket suspension, yes the car will sit lower, but the springs are stiffer, so with a load, or bumps in the road, the suspension travel is less. Get good shocks, and stiff springs, and you'll be fine. Just tell your friends to lose some weight until then!

205/45's on 16x7 is ideal.... zero rubbing with a 1.8" drop

I have a set of Skunks on Tokico Blues, lowered about 2-1/2" and I have a set of 16x7 wheels with a +37mm offset mated with 205/40/16's and I experience no rubbing whatsoever. None during bumps or hard turns. I've yet to experience 45 series tires so I'm not sure if those would rub.

Right now, the car is sitting on stock steelies with 205/50/15's and with the same height and it's the same result. No rubbing whatsoever.
