Default 05 Civic whine

Before I try taking it to the dealer, I was wondering if anyone else's 05, or for that matter anyone with the same gen Civic, have a speed sensitive whine coming from the engine. Its kind of annoying but its been there since I got the car last May. I wish there was a way to describe it but it kind of sounds like "ehhhhh" that goes up in pitch as the RPM's increase. It hasn't gotten worse but it hasn't gone away either.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Did ya buy the car new, When I bought my 03 it had a steady whine to it as well. It was just the motor breaking in.

No but it was practically new, it had 8500 miles when I bought it. It now has 13000.

It happened to a buddy of mines car but his was alot older (95 I think). It had something to do with his radio. THe speaker wires were picking up sounds from the enginge and it sounded exactly what you were describing but it didnt get louder as you increased the volume. He put heat wrap around the wires behind his dash and the noise was gone.

Maybe if he has an aftermarket radio. Honda wiring for there stock stereo isn't to bad. When I ripped all of mine out I look at how it was installed, All lose ends were capped and the ground was good.

Have you put in a new stereo? Is it getting louder over time, or is it the same tone through the RPM band?

Mine is not a stereo issue. I can only hear it with the stereo off. I can't hear any noises with the stereo on because I have it on loud enough to drown out any sound.

Even with the stereo off, If its a ground loop you will here it. One reason for not hearing it with the stereo on is because there are so many different tones it will drown it out unless its a real bad one.

I don't hear the whine from the speakers. It's definitely coming from the engine compartment.
