Default Code 45

Ok so i was driving my 96 ek hatch with a d16y7 when my CEL came on. I got home and red it and its a code 45. It means "System Too Lean or Too Rich malfunction in the fuel monitoring systems". Couple of days ago I noticed my old spark plugs were white when I changed them. White meaning too lean right? So what am I to do??

If the system is to lean it can be a number of things:

Fuel Pump insufficient flow/pressure
Fuel Feed line clogged leaking
Fuel Pressure Regulator stuck open
Clogged Fuel Pump/Injector
Gasoline doesn't meet Owner's Manual spec
Deteriorated Primary HO2S sensor
Valve Clearance
Exhaust leak

Thanx carta. I'm thinking its the exhaust leak, because there is a crack in my header and I noticed smoke coming from it after I put seafoam yesterday. I'll have that fixed tomorrow and hopefully that will solve it.

How can exhaust leak cause the system to run lean?
