winter rims worth it?

I have currently one set of steel rims. I have put my winter tires on these for the winter. Do you think switching tires seasonally would be alright? Or should I take buy a second set. My main concern is stretching of the beading.

just get all season tires and you wont have to keep changing them

if it is just on some stock rims or whatever, no big deal....most people get summer/winter rims because they have really nice summer rims and dont want them to get atacked and beat up by the winter elements.

you should have a second set of tires mounted on steel rims. if you dont mind the hassle and expense of changing and rebalancing your tires every winter. I have two sets, my neighbors spend at least $100 just to change thier tires every winter.

Personally it's easier to have 2 sets of rims then to keep spending money on balancing/mounting twice a year. You would almost pay for another set of rims in 2 years.

:werd: Steelies aren't expensive at all, less than $300 for a brand new set of 4.

FWIW, I got a set of steelies on ebay for $10 (picked them up).........in other words, if you are patient/have some time, you can usually find some steelies for VERY cheap.

As was mentioned before, you will save money by not having to mount and balance twice a year. ;)
