Default 2000 Civic Check Engine Help!!

So i just bought a 2000 civic coupe and the check engine light is on. the guy i bought it from when i first contacted him told me it was on and that a new 02 sensor would fix the problem.

so he put one in and a half hour later, it came back on with the same problem reading, something like "catalitic malfunction", i forget the exact wording.

anyone know how to get rid of this? the car has headers on it and my friend said that because of the headers, it may always say theirs a malfunction with the converter. any truth to that saying?

also, does anyone know if 92-95 fog lights will properly fit on a 2000?

thanks for your help guys!!

HEADER not headerS. and no i dnt believe those fogs will fit. No the header will not always make the check engine light come on. Just replace ur cat and go from there.

Replacing the cat would be wise, mine had to shit some cat particles after a long long time. It mysteriously gotten clogged after i tapped it a few times because it started to rattle, and then a few days later it shot some cat particles out and check engine light is now gone, however i do believe there's some restriction existing, but i wont know til i dyno again.
