high erratic revs 92 civic lx with d16y8
 

when you first start the car it holds idle at 3000 rpm then when it warms up its irraticly revs from 800 rpm up to 2700 rpm then after you drive it for a while it holds rev at 2000 steady not up nor down, ive replaced the map sensor, idle control valve, dist. cap and rotor the timing on the dist. cap was fully advanced when i retarded it all the way it doesnt make no difference at all so i just set it down the middle, i have not put a timing gun to it because well i dont have one and i just hope timings not the issue also the idle control valve i got out of a junk yard possibly bad... i was told that was the problem so i really am stuck and dont know what to do anymore.. please advise thanks..

clean the screen, and see if your low on coolant. When you replaced the IACV you might have gotten air trapped in the lines, bleed some coolant out and see if that helps.

were do i bleed it were it connects to the air intake or from the radiator?? i ran a coolant pressure tester on it because i lost a lot of coolant but it holds 15lbs steady for five minutes and had no leaks but i think i had to much water in it and it evaportated whats you thoughts and were are you talking about bleeding the coolant at??

When you took off the IACV some coolant leaked out from the lines right? Unhook the same line from the IACV and let some run out then reconnect. But first i would clean the IACV screen. And when you drain it leave the radiator cap open so theres no pressure in the lines.

PLEASE MAKE SURE ENGINE IS NOT ON AND THAT THE CAR HAS HAD TIME TO COOL DOWN!!!

alright i will give it a try and repost tomorrow thanks for the help also how do i test the iacv to make sure its not defective

You can open the IACV on the flat end there will be 2 screws, unscrew the flat panel and look to see the spring isnt stuck or rusted etc....also you can seat the "bullet" further down and see if that helps. Once you open it up you will know what im talking about.
