00 Civic EX rear disc conversion
Alright, I searched here and on a few other forums and I still have a few questions about parts for doing a rear disc swap to my 00 civic ex.
My MC says "7/8" on the side. Will I need to swap MC's? The reason I'm asking is because I've heard different things.
Also, will I need to switch to a 4040 prop valve? Some people have told me yes, while others say I dont have to.
I'd just like to clear these things up before I purchase anything
Thank you.

tons of debate on this topic. im not 100 percent sure of the size of the master cylinder but changing the proportioning valve is highly recommended. it is the changing of the master cylinder that has more debate. on my 92 hacth i did a disc conversion. at first i didnt change the pro valve and the pedal felt fine. but then again i dont know how much percentage of the braking force was going to each wheel. i did switch the pro valve later on and didnt notice a diffrent pedal feel or braking distance. but then again....i dont know the braking force after the pro valve install. what i am getting to is this....you should be fine for light racing of the streets or whatnopt and daily driving. if track used then i would rec. using all components from the disc setup. master cylinder, pro valve.
Apparently, there is new fluid flow recordings that show you do NOT have to change the prop valve. Ek hatches, abs civic's and the em1 already share the same prop anyway. I changed to a known 4040.
The 7/8 is what is on the em1 w/ rear disc - it will be fine. Just know that there IS room for lager mc's.

depending if you have an ABS setup or not.
i changed out for larger rotors/calipers (integra) fronts and rear discs (integra). Changed my MC to a 15/16 and my prop valve to 40/40. Since you are only upgrading the rear discs, you may not need to upgrade anything for daily driving since you already have the EX setup.
it is usually recommended that you upgrade the MC and prop valve to accomodate more fluid being pushed to the rear discs.

IMO, if you are just doing a rear disc, retain your factory MC but change the prop valve.
If you plan to upgrade to Integra size rotors/calipers or EX ABS setups... change the MC to 15/16 or 1 inch.
