Why the hell isn't my power steering working?!?!?!
I just replaced my power steering pump after my old one started making a really loud squealing noise and steering eventually became very difficult. well, after replacing it, the power steering still doesn't seem to be working, and it didn't accept nearly as much fluid as I drained out. why would this happen? I am confused. Does it take awhile for the new pump to cycle through all the fluid and get out any air bubbles, or something? Please help!!:(

Isn't there a way to bleed it? I'll have to check my manual.

Okay.....now my power steering only works when my car is going in reverse. The minute I start to go foreward, it stops. Also, if I fill the fluid up to the top fill mark, by the time the enging gets warmed up, the fluid is all the way at the top of the resivoir! WTF?!? HELP!!:(

You need to get the air out of the system.
Jack up the front end, throw some stands under it so both tires are equally off the ground. Fill the fluid up start the car turn the wheel from lock to lock to fully cycle the system check fluid level and top off repeat till there is no bubbles coming out up in the res. :D |
oo that sounds lieka good idea . . . .i mite try that cuz mines pretty hard too, only thing is i dont have any power steering fluid so if i had any air bulbbles it wouldnt help :p :oh:

imo just pay 80 bucks for a manual rack. its not that much harder than driving w/ p/s and you save a couple horsepower :D
