When does VTEC engage on my D16Y8?

When you change your VTEC crossover, usually you'd do so according to boost, camshaft change, or both. With a camshaft change, you'd engage VTEC at a higher RPM, considering the cam profile raises your Revs. If you run boost, you'd engage it earlier for improved spooling.

well one way i did to see when my v-tec kicks in is install the leds for the windshield wiper fluid and connect it to the v-tec sillionid and i have a d16z6 and mine kicks in at 5000rpms well that how kabooki and i did it

I made a VTEC light in my gauge cluster which goes on at around 5500 rpms. (And feels like nothing, btw. On this engine, if seems that VTEC is more about a smooth continuous profule to a higher redline than a dramatic profile change.)
