Default cold air intake

I just put a cold air intake in my civic. But if it rains do i have to take it off or will the filter prevents water from going into the engine. Or do I just have to take it off completely during the rainy season.

You wont have to take it off everytime it rains, but you dont exactly have to run over puddles to hydolock your motor. A bypass valve will help the absolute most, but even then, you can't guarentee anything. The filter itself will not prevent water at all. Your best bet would be to take it for good during the rainy season.

dont bother taking it off, just buy a bypass valve and put it somewhere inline with the intake tube. like mentioned before, it wont guarentee that you wont get hydrolock. just watch out for puddles and you'll be fine. i had a CAI on my civic for 2 years without a bypass valve and i never hydrolocked because i avoided puddles.

The bypass valve is a waste of money don't by it. Just another marketing trick. You are going to have the CAI totally submerged in water for it to hydrolock. Just don't run over a huge puddle, or drive into the ocean. A small puddle will be fine, just dont' trip.

agreed on the bypass valve

However, the reason why I am so against them, is because you dont have to run over one big puddle to hydrolock your motor. The more you keep running over small puddles, the more water that gets into your motor. Your motor can only take a certain amount before it locks up. I forget the exact amount Anyway, just keep in mind, all those small puddles add up.
