Default Best winter tires?

Summer is almost over, and soon enough Fall will be also. I just wanted to get a BIG headtstart on researching winter tires. Last winter I drove on 15'' low pro Kumho Ecsta 711's and I lived to tell about it. Here in Ohio (especially Columbus) the weather is very unpridictable, and can get nasty.

So if you could help me out by either recommending good tires, or post what you use and maybe other methods to make your car as stable to drive as possible during the long, cold winter months, it will be greatly appreciated.

I have Nokian Hekepalita 2's and they are by far the best....ask Mike (civicsiracer)......if you are interested, I have a set for sale that are mounted to a set of CRX si rims...I am in michigan, and the price is better than you will find just a set of regular winter tires for. They only have 60 miles on them, the back two still have the nubs from the tire mold. I got my subaru right after I invested alot into these tires, but alas they will not transfer.

I also have the Nokian Hakkapelitta 2s 195/55x15" for the past two winters (I think they are being replaced by another tire). Awesome winter tire with lots of siping (important for grabbing on slippery surfaces) and deep tread to extracate snow.

Tires are made in Finland where they get lots of snow. Plus Nokian does all their testing on snow/ice covered tracks.

I have michelin X-ice. Good snow tire, not bad on ice.
I couldnt argue with the price at the time, and I am pleased with how they perform day-to-day

Thanks for the info.

What wheels are you Nikan's wrapped on? Would some factory Honda wheels work well with some Nikan tires? Like some 14'' hubbies..?

Why ruin a good set of rims for the winter time, unless you do car shows in the winter

Wow starting this early, you must be dangerously advanced at 19.

I've heard that blizzaks are pretty good.
