no there is not an A/C thermostat. The thermostat is in the cooling loop for the engine.

yes there is an A/C thermostat. the Thermostat prevents ice formation on the cooling coil, which not only affects the cooling efficiency but if allowed to happen, can also damage the system.

I looked at an on line exploded view and missed it.

I stand corrected and learned something...

The a/c thermostat should be connected on the evaporator box.

Got a question while on this topic. The a/c thermostat I'm installing has a three prong plug. I have a two prong plug harness. How would I go about doing this? I don't want to pay for a new thermostat which is a little expensive.

hrmm, that is a perdicamint. I have the opposite problem. So I could just use the 2 prong male end from the donar harness. It is wired to 2 of the wires on my 3 wire plug , on the harness in the car.
