Ok, after hours of research I have concluded that my del sol is having serious heat issues.

Theroy:
A while back (about a week ago) the car got a pin-sized hole in the radiator hose right under the distributer cap. Now I realize that it wasnt a flaw in an old hose, the car was just overheating and built up enough pressure to cause the hole. I beleive the overheating was caused by a bad head gasket. I came to this conclusion when I noticed the oil all over my tranny. Ok, so my head gasket blew, the car overheated and continues to overheat causing VAPOR LOCK. After the car died on me earlier and just would not start back up, I ran to my house to get my tools. Upon returning the car started right up. That would be consistant with vapor lock.

I also noticed the other day after replacing Fuel filter, Injectors, FPR, Plug Wires, Fuel pump and vacum hoses it did the same thing and I no longer got a CEL code 43. So im thinkin its time for a new Head gasket and a bigger radiator.

Sound reasonable??

 

A new radiator wouldn't be needed, but go ahead and replace the headgasket, see if that stops the problem.

 

before changing the head gasket for vapor lock, goto an auto parts store, buy a sniffer to find exhaust in the radiator. even a blown head gasket shouldnt blow out of a hose. should boil over thru the cap.

 

good point, I just realized for it to do that, the thermo must be stuck. I'll just replace that as precautionary
