D16Y7 head on D15 block?

I havent had any luck on finding a D16Y7 engine. I was thinking that maybe we could find a D15 bottom end, and put the D16Y7 head on the D15 block? Could I use the D16 head gasket, water pump, and timing belt?

bump. anybody have an answer?

um.....why would you want to do that? are you looking for any kind of performance gain? if you are, it will be very little and not worth the trouble.

I want to do it because I need my car fixed. I cant find a D16Y7 engine....... so a combination of what parts I have and what parts I can get- D15 block- would be cheap.. i dont want performance or anything. just a working cheap engine fix.

just buy a D16Y8 instead and you'll have vtec and about 25 more horsepower. have you checked a junkyard for the motor?

Yes, I have checked online, the junkyard, for sale forums, etc etc. Junkyards around here dont have anything newer than a 92. I need a good block- mines messed up. I cant find a D16 block, so I was wondering if a D15 block would work with a D16Y7 head.

If my memory serves me right, I believe you can't mix the 1.5 and 1.6 heads because the displacement is in the block.

i dont think theres a differnce in the heads. you can put a D16Z6 or D16Y8 head on a D15B7 motor, so you can put a D16Y7 head on a D15B7.
