Default '97 Civic DX: alternator or some other problem...

I recently replaced my bad alternator, with a alternator from Advanced Auto. Now, it keeps blowing the alternator fuse, which also knocks out my speedo... Is it a bad alternator or what?? Any ideas on how to trouble shoot this problem??? By the way, the Civic is bone stock, all the way down to the radio only, no cd or cassette and no power steerting.. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Don't trust those piece of crap parts from the autoparts. Just go and spend the extra cash at the dealer and buy the authentic honda alternator and that should fix your problem. It sounds like it's putting out to many volts that what is causing the fuse to blow.
