How hard was it to install? Do you have to get underneath?

Omniscient 04-06-2005 12:49 PM

Yes, you do. Or do what all the ricers at my school do....cut their shift knob down. :oh:

Do the bushings come with the shifter? If not, what kind do you suggest?

They usually don't. Get polyurethane shifter bushings from Energy Suspension. Put these in whether or not you get the short shifter. Makes it feel nice and more precise.

Careful, short shifters don't work with 6th gen stock exhaust because the heat shield gets in the way. You have to do something: use lower hangers, bend or remove the heat shield, use an aftermarket exhaust, etc.

And seeing as you are beginner at this, go get some jack stands. You do not want to ever be under the car without something reliable holding that 2800 lbs hunk of metal that can smash you to death literally.

These:

I'm not new to doing some work on my car, but new to performance upgrades. I would like to take some of the slop out of shifting.

So would any short shifter work? I see these on ebay all the time:

Energy Suspension or Prothane should make some bushings for that

yeah you will have to bend the exhaust hanger down a lil not big deal though
