Default Need engine swap CEL help

Ok so I have a 93 civic CX hatch that came with a D15, the engine and tranny had seen better days, so I swapped it for a D16Y7 SOHC non-Vtec. I swapped over the D15 intake and exhaust manifolds, as well as the coolant tube to the D16. I still have the CX ECU from the D15 as well. When I installed the new engine there was 1 plug that i couldn't find a home for. Its by the timing cover and i assumed that it was a crank sensor. Guessing that my 93CX ECU wasn't going to look for something that wasn't in a CX from factory I left it unplugged. The car ran fine, although very rich, since December. Now today, on the drive to work, it throws a CEL and sputtered until the light stayed on continuously. When I got to work I checked the code... 9 CYP sensor! Is my ECU checking for this even though it wasn't there from factory? Do I have to wire in this sensor? Or do I have to buy a new ECU or engine wiring harness? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanx Geoff

Code9 is CYL sensor. Oddly enough pretty much every code chart I've seen lists Code9 as CYP sensor... But the 92-95 Honda Manual says it's the CTL sensor.

disconnect the plug at the distributor and measure the resistance between the Orange and White wires, there should be 350-700ohms. if there isn't replace the distributor. If there is let me know, I'll track down the wire colors and routes for you.

BTW that plug is probibly the CYP sensor, and no the P05(CX) ECU does not use it. You should really chip your P05 and run a D16 fuel map, everything will work better.

Schweet!! Relic1 you are the electrical gawd :bigok: I was looking in the wrong place. I didn't get a reading when i checked for resistance and I noticed that the white wire pin had come out of the connector. The connector burned a little from it arcing, but it's fine and i replaced the pin just to be sure. 357ohms. No more CEL!!

What chip would you reccomend? Uberdata? can u link to any websites for chipping and/or fuel maps? Thanks again!!!

glad to hear you got it fixed man.

chips are fine with a burger, but not in the ECU man. I ran one of those Ebay chips for a while after my swap, I even bought a hondata setup... but I've gone Uberdata and no way am I going back.
Program is free, all you really need is a burner(~$65) to get it to work. But to tune you need a laptop, datalogging cable(~$10) and a wideband O2(~$300-ouch). But after you have those things you're tuning like the pros.

If you don't know anyone local to chip your ECU, let me know I'll take care of you.
