does it really matter? america hasnt really released a car that impresses me that is ment to be a good buy such as the cobalt, focus, etc. if they did "copy" the japanese design they did a shitty job. i doubt any japanese manufacturer would copy a u.s design other than for like trucks and shit like that. because lets face it, the japanese think all americans are redneck hicks that are truck driving, mud loving idiots

they have a "lowrider" subculture and also a "showcar" subculture that is similar to what many people do here. they get crazy like we do.

...oh and "jap" is a derogatory word. they are japanese.

I think what he is asking is if the Japanese lust for USDM parts like we lust for JDM parts.

Some items that a rare to them sure.. but from a performance standpoint most of the J-spec stuff is better.

They actually ride motorbikes like the ones they designed for us. The Honda Shadow for instance, is available in Japan, and was designed after a Harley Davidson.
They apparantly laugh at us for wanting JDM parts, or at least for paying a lot for them.
Whenever the Mazda RX7 was revamped in the 80's the top dog for Mazda actually came over here, to learn what we would like to see in a sports car. It was designed with us in mind.
And in the UK the Ford Focus is HUGE! It outsells Hondas like 5 to 1 or something crazy.

Actually yes Japan likes some of our stuff They started doing scissor doors, neon lights and stuff. They actually envy us from what I hear.

We also have a bit more freedom with our cars than they do. Plus taxes are ridiculous to own a car.

yeah thats what i got from his post too. i dont think the japenese run around looking for the hottest deal on a USDM carbon fiber lip or a USDM Headlight conversion. They already have the best of all of it

i knew the focus was huge in Europe (so popular they have a 300hp one and a convertible)

But i didn't realise that scissor doors and neons were considered an american trend

My question was about if they used american style bumpers/grills/light and such

and sorry about the jap thing if it offended anyone... my bad
