Default cams for a 98civic

is it worth putting cams and cam gears on a 98 civic DX? If so what are some good cam for that engine d16y7. Its SOHC non vtec.I Dont want to do a swap but I want a little bit more power.

Umm.... SOHC = 1 cam :happysad:

Not really worth it for an otherwise stock motor and being a nonVTEC d16...

if u were planing on turbo-ing it or throwing some spray on it...then putting higher quality internals would be the way to go...but if u dont wanna do that much just get a nice aem or k&n cold air intake, make a ground wire kit or buy one, header, high flow cat, and exhaust then some minor suspension mods like springs, and front and rear tower braces. some will agree with me some wont but if u buy it and wait til u have all those things and put em all on at once there will be a noticeable difference in the way it performs and handles also high performance spark plugs and plug wires help too...and thats just the basic cheapest mods to improve performance..wont be the fastest thing but u would be pleased with the improvements

If you want a little more performance out of it, best bet would probably be a mini-me to a Y8 head. If you do all the labor, you should come out < $500.

D16Y8 head/timing belt/headgasket
P2P Ecu from same year range
A D16Y8 intake manifold would also help a lot.
