Default My 'theory' on intakes--correct me!

this is my idea...anyone please, correct me if I'm wrong

SRI--bad because it sucks in hot air, performs as well if not worse than stock airbox, adds sound.

CAI--brings in cold air, adds performance, adds sound, but, since it goes down to the wheel well, if it is raining or you hit a big enough puddle, it will suck water in, thus resulting in damage to your engine. This might not be accurate, so please, someone correct me if I am wrong, because this is what holds me back from purchasing an intake.

actually.. its kind of a myth.. but short rams are supposed to help throttle response quite abit, and torque numbers, but as I said, its a myth.

If anything, the SRI adds more sound then the CAI.

And its not really just splashing, but if it gets underwater.. then yeah , itll damage the engine.

Light splashing wont do anything.

Still seems like too much risk, you never know when and where a flood is...

Think thats what I'm gonna do, 'cept i don't have a CAI, lol. I actually think SRI is better performing than stock airbox, because the filter has more Surface area, and sucks in more air. Sound is good, so i guess pros outweigh cons. I'll be purchasing an Ebay one soon.

And actually.. if you look at where the filter is positioned, its not sucking up as much hot air as you think... because look where your radiator fan is.. and feel the airflow from there.. its not hot.

They are way cheaper, and better looking imo then a stocky
