I'm going to install my short shifter tom, any tips?
 
Tomorrow i will be installing my DC sports short shifter. what do i wanna grease up? and also can i add to much grease??? i dont think i could just wanna make sure


lemme know some tips

u should of bought the shifter bushings as well, no more then 20 bukks, combined with the shifter it will be a night and day difference in terms of a positive feel to the shifter.

keep the stock shift stem and just put in the bushings

i no like short throw shifters, too knotchy of a feeling.

i agree if you don't take the time to change the bushings it is a useless mod

Lol i bought the bushings...i'm gonna get it install monday, I took a shot at it before but i didnt feel safe under my car with just the damn jack

so i'll bite the bullet and get it installed monday

when ever installing something on your car, if you unassemble the stock part and you see grease, then be sure to re-grease anything with grease on it. You can never put too much grease on the places that need it. Your limit is what you can live with, if you put so much grease in it that it drips in your drive way, but thats the way you like it, then go for it.

I've heard that short shifters will eventually wear out the tranny a bit sooner because the gears and synchros don't fully engage.

Is this true?

Something I've been thinking about. :confused:
