Why isn't this ecu working?

Like I said in a previous thread, I did an auto to manual conversion on my car. Everything is working pretty smooth. The only thing is I bought an ecu(P2E) for the car, but I think it is for a DX. I have a 96 ex coupe. So the vtec isn't engaging with that computer. I bought a new ecu(P2P) that came from a manual 2000 ex coupe. When I put it in the car, the engine didn't want to start. Is it the wrong ecu? Could I have just kept using my auto ecu and left a part of it unplugged?

the P2P might be OBD-IIb and your car is OBD-IIa so it would not be compatable. look for a ecu from a 96 ex vtec... or get your automatic ecu chipped or remapped for manual
