250 whp

How much hp to the wheels of a civic would it take to go 12.70's in the quarter mile? from what I have heard 250 will do it. How much loss is there through the drivetrain? the car weighs in the range of 2200 lbs. let say the car makes 250 to the wheels what does it make @ the motor?

250 at the wheels is probably 280 or so at the crank..

as for your question... quarter mile time isn't directly related to whp.. it really depends on the driver a lot more than a lot of people think. to get 12.7 with 250 whp would take some pretty good driving, but it it possible. your question is kind of broad, what are you trying to do exactly? or are you just being curious

250? whoa.

A 185whp, 2200lb EG can pull LOW 13's, or 13.0 with a good driver.

So you're saying an extra 65whp gets you three tenths of a second at the drag strip? Doubt it.

Big midrange (i.e., cams, tuning, long tube primary header, etc), sticky slicks, and maybe 200-215 whp will do it, but this is all dependant on good drag strip conditions and a VERY GOOD driver.

You're talking right up Josh's alley (turbo B18C.)

Yoohoo, WCS, where are you? ;)

What is the stock weight?

Where are you getting your numbers from? One on slicks couldnt even pull that.

From friend numbers i would say 270whp in a hatch on drag radials with good 60' s would net you around 12.7's. That would be with some good driving. My roomie was making 13.0 passes last weekend on .5bar with less than 270whp. He had 2.0 60'.

I also bet your car with you in it and half a tank of gas would weigh at least 2300lbs.

A stripped out Civic VX w/ a 185whp B18c5 with the usual I/H/E and hondata tuned = 13.3-13.4. It probably weighs 2300 w/ driver (he's small) and didn't have much gas in it. Put slicks on that thing and its doing 13.0.

Boost isn't the same as NA in terms of making power and putting it to the ground. I was talking about 210-220whp in an NA engine - you're well into the 12's (12.7-12.8). It's pretty well proven that you can make over 300whp in a turbo ITR/hatch and have issues getting deep into the 12's. No way to get that power to the ground.

The car is a 1998 Civic Ex with a B-16-a2. The info I was given I got from tuner shops that have ads in super street mag. How much do you think I will be investing. I have plans of a carbon fiber hood, shifter seats. The usual dress ups and about 275whp hp.
My goal is 12.50-12.70s so I beat all the stangs and SS that think they are bad!!!!!
