Alternator Replacement Q's
hey guys, i'm in the process of swapping my motor, almost done. The motor is in, but i have to replace the alternator. Now i was looking around the engine bay, and their is like no space at all to slide the alternator in there. Where do you pull the old alternator out of? can you slide it behind the intake manifold and out the tranny side of the engine bay? I checked helms and they weren't much help.

pulling it out from the bottom looks like a no-go either, unless i pull out my axles and the half shaft...but for some reason i don't think changing and alternator should be as hard as removing your axles or an engine mount and jacking up the motor to creat enough space...
shoot me some ideas...thanks in advance!

I had my car up on jack stands & had my friend push down on the wheel which moved the axle a little bit enabeling me to slide the alternator out. Try that.. it might help u out a lil bit.. it's definatly a pain in the ass tho.. Good Luck!
I would think I have less room than you do and I've removed mine a couple times. :dunno:
If you remove everything from the alt and unbolt the alt so it's free, you should be able to bring it down past the oil filter and then out between the half-shaft, header and subframe. It takes some twisting and maneuvering, but it can be done.
