Shocks Question....
I got a 97 civic and am about to drop it about 2 inches with springs, its it necessary to get new shocks as well? If so which ones are good for this type of drop within a modest price range?
You should NOT use stock shocks if you are going to lower your car. Many will recommend KYB AGX shocks. They are inexpensive and a good all around shock. www.tirerack.com has the best price I've seen on them yet. About $80 per shock.
if you stick with stock shocks, you're gonna go through the labor of swapping out your springs, getting an alignment, and a few months later you're gonna be bouncin around like a maniac because your stock shocks wore out. then you're gonna have to go through the whole process again. if you think its worth doing that (wasting time and money) . . . . .
like the guys said, kyb's are a relatively cheap all around shock. put them in together

I rode with stock shocks on mine and it was dropped three inches in the front and 2 1/2 inches in back, It was ok for about 2 or 3 months then the tires started to rub and the car was really bouncy. I then put on the tociko illumina shocks and they made
%100 diference. The ride and handeling is so much better. I would definately get new shocks.

Patients pays off in the end. My prokits were sitting in my friends garage for 4 months before I was able to purchase the shocks to match. It payed off. :naughty: Just throwing on a set of stiffer springs is just a waste of money if you pay to have someone install, or a waste of time if you install them. Do it right the first time.
