Default Does this timing belt look OK

I put on this cam gear myself a few months ago, however it seems to me that there is serious wear on the timing belt that wasn't there before. My car has only 20k on it and I'm assuming the belt wasn't changed before I owned it. (Purchased at 12k). Thanks much

It's hard to tell from that pic. You really should look at the inner side of the belt. If it's cracking or the lobes are really worn down then you need to change it.

Exactly what westcoaststyle said, check the other side of the belt. You can also look for cracks in the rubber also. Usually you don't need to change your belt till 90,000.

I doubt its bad if its only got 20k on it, but its usually a good idea to change it anyway when installing crap like cam gears.

Check the inside for crosshatch marks. They're a good indication of how new a belt is. Should fade with wear.
