What's Included???
Well I've done a search on the subject and I didn't find any relevant results. My friend just bought an AEM short ram intake for his 95 DX hatch and there seems to be an important part that is missing. It doesn't seem to have the hose that connects the intake pipe to the valve cover.
He received the intake in the mail and the shop used the actual AEM box (rather than packing the AEM box to a bigger box) to ship the filter and the whole thing was still sealed when it arrived at the house (or so he says). So he's just curious if he got everything on what supposed to be included. I told him that he's missing that part and that he needs it so he can properly install the filter to the car. |
yeah that should be included. its easy to get just go to home depot or some other home improvement store and get a rubber hose that same size and cut to fit also get some clamps ;)
|
goto home depot for the clamps, i think a small hose from any local auto store will do. hi temp ones that is. thats what I did for my friend's cheapo intake
|
is that part nessesary, im not running it right now, any side affects?
|
actually what you could also do is buy those tiny cylindrical filters (from APC?) that you can just stick on the valve cover. and plug up the hole on the intake. seen it done w/ no problems
actually anyone know why you have to connect the hose from the valve cover to the intake? what does it do? |

but why does it have to loop back to the intake? thats what doesn't make sense to me....

crank case breather.
i believe it take the excess air in the head. and it goes out back into the intake. not positive but yeah. i believe all it does is take excess air out. |
So you don't emit nasty oily air into the atmosphere. Instead it goes back into the engine for a second coming. Thus, Greddy invents the catchcan or that breather. My buddy had his routed to a budweiser can. :D
