tib's new car

what should i get? i figure i would ask you guys, being we all have similar car choices.

it needs to be:

1. fun
2. "more substantial" than a del sol
3. inexpensive
4. mid 90's+

im gonna see what you all say before i throw out my list.

You forgot the most importact factor of all: what's your price range?

If you want to stay Honda, a Prelude might be perfect...but it'll be more expensive.

rtpassini Dec 16, 2003 09:28 PM

a del sol sorry, but its true

OSX2000 Dec 16, 2003 11:07 PM

Gotta agree with rtpassini...the Prelude is nice, but it just won't be the same.

If you liked the del Sol, then get another one. If it was me, I'd get a 318ti :D

If you want to spend around 6000$, and you want it to be “more substantial” (I am assuming bigger and with more power).
Than I would say go for a Dodge stealth/Mitsubishi 3000 or a high end (AWD) Eclipse/Talon.

The high end Preludes are nice but cost a lot more
Another option would be a Nissan 240SX, although they have only 155hp.

Yeah, and 160 torque.
The 240 handles much better and is much roomier. Don't get any DSM car unless you enjoy repairs. The stealth is the ugliest car ever.

I'd say the 240 is your best bet, because it has the great interior layout of a Del Sol with more space and more room for a stereo if you're an audio nut like me. The only problem is finding one.

Ya,

But for the price you cant beat the power of the Stealth R/T (222hp) or the Eclipse/Talon AWD (210hp).
Mechanically they might not be as sound as a Sol or a 240SX, but they are not bad (The Stealth has a DSM engine).

If you ask me the 240SX (95 and on) is not very good looking, not much of a sporty look at all…

And space for a stereo is really not my priority….

DelSolSIinMD Dec 17, 2003 12:52 PM

Actually, you CAN beat the power of the Stealth R/T 3000GT SL - 222 isn't that great considering their huge weight. They are REAL porkers. Extremely so. That's why their handling at low speeds is so notoriously poor.

Prelude... 300ZX, maybe? Even the n/a ones have some grunt. 240SX isn't a horrible choice... and you can always do the ubiquitous motor swap later if you don't like the truck engine they tossed in there stock.

we will see my price limit when i get whatever insurance check im due. but i would figure $7000 is the very highest.

so far my thoughts have been around:

1. 95 sol VTEC- i loved my first one, why not another?
2. 4 gen prelude- bigger, also honda, more $ though...
3. mid 90's integra- eh... they are alright

the 240sx intrigues me.... i will look into it, they seem pretty good, if not a little pokey when compared to a sol
my brother is wanting a 3000gt, so im not gonna tread there
the stealth is ugly (that spoiler thing why? WHY?)
the eclipse is just way too common and played out... i think the sol's uniqueness it what attracted me to it

i think what i really want is another sol....

anyone got a 95 VTEC just sitting around? :happysad:
