Default tranny doesn't feel right

I have a slight problem. I think my tranny is screwed up. I can shift at high rpms from 1-2 smoothly but when I shift from 2-3 at high rpms it feels like its grinding but it still manages to go in. 3-4 is fine and so is 4-5. Is this 2-3 grinding feel normal????????

The high rpms that I'm talking about above is like 5900-6200rpm - my car redlines at 7100rpm and its max horsepower is at 6200rpm.

the 1-2 or 2-3 grind is a common occurance in honda transmissions... I'm not sure on what exactly it is, but I heard it has something to do with the syncros... i used to have a bad 2-3 grind shifting anywhere above 4500rpms in my old tranny...

Yeah, Hondas have naturally faulty synchros, and the one that usually goes first is the third gear synchro. If you double cluctch it, it won't grind at all, or just don't shift into third at that high rpm's unless you're racing.

ha ha ha (not laughing at you, just my experiences), been there done that. 1st tranny fried the 1/2 and 2/3 syncro. 2nd tranny welded the 1/2 syncro and it's hub to the gearshaft, overheated 3/4 syncro and exploded the diff. I feel your pain bro. If only honda could build their trannys like they build their motors...... I'm having my original tranny sent out to a local tranny shop to have custom gears and beefier syncros put in.

It's the syncrho rings that get worn out but for some reason with Honda transmissions, you have to replace the who syncrhonizer assembly.

if it persists, its going to be more than just the rings..you might have to replace the gears due to grinding also.
