Buying Tires for Brother's Civic for X-Mas, HELP!
My brother has an '00 Civic. Its an EX but he wants it to look just like an Si. So far he has the wheels, spoiler, and is currently getting the side skirts painted, and has the Si lip. He is getting a 1.8" drop soon, too.
Here is a pic: http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg As you can see, the problem is he needs lower profile tires! Whats the lowest profile tire you can safely get away with? 195/40-15's? I have 215/40-17's on my Prelude and I am fine. So something along those lines, thanks. |
205/50/15 or 195/50/15 are the correct size. Anything shorter than that will make the ride harsh, cause a lot of fender-gap and just look kinda silly. I'd go with the 205mm, myself.

I wouldn't suggest running a lower profile tire on 15's for street driving... recommended is 195/55/15... so I think anything else would make the car much lower and throw off the speedo. Actually, They don't make a 195/40/15... at least not that I am aware of. The only 195/45/15 tire I found is Kumho. There are more options for 195/50/15 sizes. I would say a 205/50/15 is a safe bet.
If you want lower profile tires, then just get 16" wheels. |
Okay, I am confused now lol. Would it be safe to run 195/45-15's?
|
just get a 50-series. 195 or 205mm. Thats all there is to it. A 55-series will fit, but it wont get the look your looking for. Like I said, 205/50/15 or 195/50/15.

If he really wants it to look like an si he needs to get an si grill also.
|
What does the Si grill look like compared to his?
Maybe I will just buy him that, lol, cheaper. |
