The new ss's are supposed to be layered in some stuff to keep them from rusting. I have had my flex's on my hatch for about 4 months and they havent rusted at all.

most spring and coilover systems use aluminum sleeves-
aluminum cannot rust
however dirt and other particles can get in the threads causing problems.
just inspect them every couple thousands miles for any dirt and crap there

Maybe not, but it does corrode. Corroded aluminum is a pain to work with, but still not quite as bad as rusted iron/steel.

wouldn't living in a non-snow enviorment not close to the ocean make the chances of rusting drop greatly?

Yes.

If you want a good indicator of how rust prone cars are in your area, look around for mid-eighties Hondas. At that time, Honda used some bad steel and paint, so they rust pretty fast compaired to other Hondas. If you see a lot of rust-free older Hondas, you'll be fine.

It is true what you have stated and what the others have said. But I'm pretty sure the Tein SS (and the HA that they are based off of) are steel bodied. So, yeah, they rust.

If you have the newer SS (I think almost all of them supposedly came this way for the US market) they should have a teflon coating or something of the sort. You'll probably be ok. Otherwise, people used to periodically spray the exposed threads with WD-40 or oil.

HTH.
