Backup light problem...Argh!
Ok, this happened to my friend's Del Sol recently, and he was never able to figure out what the problem was...
I just noticed today, after I turned my car on and was looking for an exhaust leak, that my backup lights were on...while my car was *not* in gear (5-speed). If I flipped through the gears, they'd kinda flicker, but wouldn't actually go out. When it happened to my friend, his would actually go out when he switched gears, but would always come back on. That's about all I know about it. Does anyone have any clue what could be causing this?!
Thanks!

Check the fuse (No.19) first to see if it's bad.
Here's what my Helm's says for my B-series transmission, hope you can glean something from it.
If your fuse and bulbs are alright, disconnect the connector from the back-up light switch on the tranmission. With the shift lever in reverse, check for continuity between the A and B terminals inside that connector. If there is none, replace the switch. If there is continuity and you're still experiencing the reverse light problem, check for a poor ground or an open in the wire.

I'm not sure what yr your friends car is but there could be a short or the wire that goes into the tranny for the backup light could be disconnected. If that's not it i bet it's just some electrical hiccup in the fuses like drumsy said.
