Just get a set of used snow tyres... they'll probably come out cheaper then chains or even those gay ass snowsocks.
Chains are temporary things. You don't drive with them all the time. Around here for the passes its chains or AWD sometimes. They don't check.
What are the sizes of your tires? I have an extra set of studless tires. I don't know your route but I'll let them go for cheap to you.
