Hey ... i got an 05 ExL Accord and had a remote starter installed about a week ago....I went to bypasskits.com and got the PKH-3 transponder (i think) but u can read the specs on their website to see which one it actually is....it cost me $32 shipped...and works like a charm...thats the transponder part...

next i went to circuitcity and got the valet 561R remote starter...it was around $50...has code hopping and anti-grind feature...so u wont have to worry about starting on a very very cold morning...the range too, is about 1000 ft...so pretty much everything that i was looking for...

so far..im pretty happy with most of the stuff....heres the thing ...i got circuitcity ppl to install it...they charged me about $120 for the installation...(i know its kinda expensive...but to me its worth it if done right)...but had some frustration at the way it works...

the factory remote works just fine...as in u can lock, unlock.....press unlock 3 times ..windows scroll down etc etc...if u use the new remote...things that u have to be careful about...

1. the car has to be locked with the new remote when u leave the car...otherwise if u try and remote start the car....the factory alarm goes off..

2. the car cannot be remote started when unlocked...

3. the factory remote does not unlock or pop the trunk once the car is remote started...u have to use the new remote the unlock the car....BIGGEST LOSS...u cannot roll down the windows anymore...

My understanding so far is this....the lock and the unlock button on the new remote does arm and disarm the car...but theres some other security something something...that the factory alarm provides...that makes the car alarm go off if the car is locked using the factory alarm and then tried to be remote started...( I checked the car after locking with the new remote and the anti-theft light comes on..)

I went back to the circuitcity ppl and told em this...but dont know thats all they say they can do..i know its doable to where both the remotes can be fully functional and i can lock and unlock from any remote and the remote starter will still function fine....havent gotten time to take a look at em though....

Get the PKH-3 Transponder and you wont have to lose ur key...and get any remote starter...jsut make sure its installed correctly...
