Read as much about the 101 guide because it really helps. CivicSiRacer has a really great one. I don't have the link but I'm sure he'll post it if you want it. Go to your region's website or SCCA (scca.com) and find out what class you are. If there is a forum try introducing yourself to some of the event organizers for they tend to be a great help, especially the first time around, and basically read the 101 guide over and over and over until you got the jist of the main points and you should be ready to go.
