Hi guys,
I have a 96 Accord EX V6 with the 2.7l engine.
One day I was driving along and my car stalled (coincidentally just a few days after a Jiffy Lube oil change...). I took it to an Acura dealer (since apparently this 2.7l engine was in the early 90s Acura Legends). He said the hydraulic lifters were damaged.
I was wondering if there is any way to quiet them down. Basically it sounds like a diesel engine and had a loud tap/clank sound.
I read something off of Google Groups
(link) about running some crankcase flush and then putting in 0w-30 Mobil 1 oil so that the oil could have an easier time getting into the valve covers, etc.
Af you drive the car about 30 minutes, the oil pressure gauge will start flickering when you come to a stop and are idling.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can try to get the car to limp by for another few years?
Thanks,
Graeme
