Dealer's try to suck you in....
Well they try. Look the Honda is an excellent car but I had to just shake my head at the dealership yesterday. My engine service light came on as I was down to 15% oil life so I pulled in for an oil change.
They inform me, Oh well the engine computer says your due for B1 sevicing. What's that I ask. "oh well we inspect the CV boots, supsension struts fuel lines, clutch travel, brake and fuel lines, fluid levels etc." And how much is this I ask ($199.00). I mean what a racket, the key word in all this is inspect. Like it's a car that is 10 months old, it has all of 11,500.00 km's on it. So I say well, the car is under full bumper to bumper warranty and if there was a problem with any of the components you listed would they not notice it when the car is up on the hoist? (the oil change comes with a 25-30 point visual inspection anyway). So I politely decline. Then they ask would you like your tires rotated. Sure I reply , "well that's $34.99" to rotate tires"! (I didn't ask you to balance them). I have never paid more than $15.00 to have tires rotated so I declined (and did them myself at home and saved $35.00). Then this one really floored me "do you want a new oil filter or just new oil"? Um I always thought an oil change included a new filter but apparantly these new "smart" engines only require a new filter when the computer tells it. I opted for a new filter, which to me is 1/2 of the point of an oil change. I then purchased new wiper blade refills at the parts desk, so the clerk at the counter says, "we can install them for you" I just asked "yes and how much for that"? Miraculously it was no charge. |
sooooo stuuupiddd! man i hate dealerships.. rip offs.

yeah, my Si is the first brand new car I've owned. I'm interested to see how my dealership experience goes upon my first oil change... :a:

I had no problems when I went in for my first oil cahnge (other than the fact I went in at 5000 Kms and they wouldn't do it becuase the oil life still showed 35%).
This was the second servicing interval. |
thats why they call it the stealership

They charged for installation in the price of the blade refills :chuckles:
Generally when you say you're going to do it yourself at the counter they'll hack the price. (when I got my OEM antenna replacement it cost me $180 instead of $300 straight from the counter) |

actually in Japan they change the oil only after 3000ks and then the oil and the filter after another 3000, its quite normal, saves you money.

give me a break. |
yea, I can't see putting new clean engine oil in, and then running it through a dirty filter. That just doesn't make any sense to me.
