Mid-Ohio Race Training
Some of you that watch auto racing or other motor sport competition events on TV might have gotten to see some drivers take to the Mid-Ohio Racing course in Lexington, Ohio. Even if you aren't a racing enthusiast but simply are crazy about driving fast and hard you should check this out. Over the summer some of the Tire Rack guys got to go out and take one of the many courses offered by the performance driving school at Mid-Ohio. What an awesome experience! They have fleet of 2010 Acura TSX's for track use and training as well as a few S2000's for autocrossing.

We learned how to balance the weight of the vehicle using their "Skidcar" which will spin out extremely easily if you don't have full control and concentration.

This is a Civic outfitted with cross bars that lift the vehicle off of the ground slightly so that even a small turn made too quickly will oversteer the vehicle.
These were warm up exercises until we took to the full track. Nothing better than playing follow the leader with a retired racer.

I highly recommend the experience if you are ever in the area.
As a tire guy I couldn't help but notice how well the Kumho XS complimented the ability of the TSX. Check those out at the Tire Rack website to get a look:
