Honda-Acura.net Member Code of Conduct
REVISION 1.1 - February 5, 2009
Owned by Internet Brands, Inc. Honda-Acura.net [hereafter,"the Site"] exists to provide a friendly and open community for Honda and Acura related performance, competition, maintenance and other technical discussions.
We welcome all members, but we expect everyone to act in a polite and respectful manner. In order to maintain an open and inviting community, the administrative and moderating staff [collectively,"We" or "the Staff"] of Honda-Acura.net have established the following Member Code of Conduct. The policies stated below define what content is allowed on this site, how the forums will be moderated and how policy enforcement actions will be reviewed.
We reserve the right to make changes to the Member Code of Conduct as needed. Additionally, the legal staff at Internet Brands may make changes to the Terms of Service as needed. These changes become effective on the day they are posted. It is your responsibility as a member to routinely review the Terms of Service and the Member Code of Conduct to ensure you are updated as changes are made.
2. MEMBER CODE OF CONDUCT
All members are expected to read and follow these guidelines, as well as the policies and disclaimers set forth in the Terms of Service.
2a. GENERAL POLICY:
Simply put, treat other members with respect, just as you would like to be treated. Those who cannot follow this simple rule will be subject to warning points and will be banned should they continue to be a nuisance.
* Do not threaten violence or other embarrassing or destructive acts toward anyone.
* Do not post pornographic material or use it as your avatar.
(Refer to 2d. "THREAD CONTENT POLICIES" below for the definition used on this site.)
* Please do not post in all capital letters or use the command in your posts or signatures.
* Do not choose a screen name that is deceptive to make it appear that you are someone you are not.
* Do not deliberately instigate fights.
* Whenever possible, express yourself without the use of profanity.
2b. PROHIBITED CONTENT:
* ABSOLUTELY NO HATE SPEECH:
In keeping with the idea of mutual respect, HAN will not tolerate any hate speech in any form. Posts that slander or attack any group of people based on race, color, nationality, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, family relationship, age, mental or physical disability, religion or religious beliefs will be deleted on sight and the member who posted the content will be banned.
The Staff of Honda-Acura.net recognize that part of internet culture includes teasing or flaming other members. However, when teasing becomes harrassment and it disrupts our community, warning points will be issued.
2c. PROHIBITED DISCUSSION TOPICS:
As defined in detail within the Terms of Service, members may not post any material that could constitute or encourage conduct that would be considered a criminal offense, create a civil liability for the Site or otherwise violate any law.
The Site and its forums will not be used to aid the process of breaking any law. The list of explicitly prohibited topics includes (but is not limited to) illegal file sharing, hacking and street racing. Members may discuss the laws that apply to a particular illegal activity, but any request for direction or advice on how to violate the law will be grounds for thread deletion and/ or warning points. That means no serials, no cracks, no warez.
The Staff will fully cooperate with any law enforcement authorities or any court order requesting or directing the Site to disclose the identity of anyone posting any such information or materials.
Please do not submit the same thread or the same post in multiple forums without receiving prior approval from the Staff. Spammers will dealt with harshly; posts will be deleted and accounts will be banned on sight.
* POST WHORING / TROLLING:
Please make sure your posts are relevant and make a significant contribution most of the time. The Staff will delete posts or in extreme cases ban those who earn a reputation for irrelevant, disruptive or inappropriate posts.
2d. THREAD TITLE POLICIES:
In order to protect members who access the Site from their workplace, we expect all members to follow these rules when posting a thread:
* No profanity and / or derogatory words in thread titles.
* No references to pornography in thread titles.
* No references to pornographic websites in thread titles.
The Staff retains the right to edit any thread title that violates these polices. If there is a major violation of this policy, warning points may be issued, at the sole discretion of the Staff.
2e. "NOT WORK SAFE (NWS, NSFW)" CONTENT POLICIES:
In addition to the thread title policies above, we maintain a very strict policy about Not Work Safe content.
Not Work Safe content is anything you would not want your boss to see on your workplace monitor. Use common sense and be discreet; just because your workplace is easy-going and lax, that doesn't mean they all are.
Pornography will not be allowed on this site in any form.
No videos, no pictures and no links.
Our standard is simple: If female breasts or the genitalia of either gender are exposed, the material is considered pornographic and may not be posted on the Site.
All Not Work Safe content must be flagged with "NWS" in the thread title. Furthermore, the
tags must be used in the body of the post to further conceal the NWS content.
(e.g.
(URL of NWS content)
)
Beware -- the penalties for violating the NWS policy are exceptionally severe.
3. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY:
You, the member, represent and warrant that: (i) you own the content posted by you on or through the Site or otherwise have the right to grant the license set forth below, and (ii) the posting of your content does not violate the privacy rights, publicity rights, copyrights, contract rights or any other rights of any person.
By displaying or posting content on the Site, you hereby grant the Site a nonexclusive global license to publish the content submitted by you to the Site. You also grant us global nonexclusive adaptation and resale rights over any content and material submitted to the Site. These nonexclusive publishing license and resale/adaptation rights extend to any materials submitted "for publication" within the Site, including both message board postings and content submitted for uploading and subsequent publishing within non-message board portions of the Site.
We will not be held responsible for any misleading, false or otherwise injurious information and advice communicated on the Site or for any results obtained from the use of such information or advice. We will not be liable for any loss or damage suffered by a member through the member's reliance on information and advice gained on the Site.
4. ADVERTISING POLICY:
Members are allowed to post their personal items for sale in the Parts Classifieds or Vehicle Classifieds forum as appropriate.
Companies and entrepreneurs are asked to contact a member of the Staff for instructions and the current rates on advertising and Site sponsorship. It is unlikely that you will be allowed to market your services or goods without sponsoring the Site; however, it is possible that the Staff will approve a specific item in a specific case where there might be a compelling public interest in making the service or item available to members of the Site.
5. POLICY ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS & REVIEW PROCEDURE:
Any post made in violation of the Terms of Service or Member Code of Conduct is subject to editing, deletion and / or the issuance of warning points at the sole discretion of the moderating and administrative staff.
Members who are unhappy with a policy enforcement action are encouraged to contact an Administrator via Private Messaging in a civil and mature manner. Further disruption of the forum will not be tolerated and may lead to additional disciplinary action.
Without limiting the foregoing, the following disruptions are expressly prohibited:
* A banned member may not register a new account after their first account has been banned as the result of a policy enforcement action.
* A banned member may not borrow another member's account (either with or without permission from said member) to continue posting on the Site.
* The use a proxy server to register on the Site with the intent of circumventing a ban is expressly prohibited.
We welcome civil discussion regarding a policy enforcement action, but there is no guarantee of a reversal. Moderators are held to a very high standard in patrolling the forum and enforcing the Terms of Service and Member Code of Conduct . Without substantial evidence of a serious breach in enforcement protocol, the policy enforcement action will stand.
5a. POLICY ENFORCEMENT - DISCLAIMER OF OBLIGATION:
While the staff at Honda-Acura.net enforce the Terms of Service and the Member Code of Conduct vigilantly, we do not have any obligation to monitor, edit, or review any post on this Site. We assume NO responsibility or liability arising from the content of any post nor for any error, defamation, libel, slander, omission, falsehood, obscenity, pornography, profanity, danger, or inaccuracy contained in any information within such posts.
Please enjoy your stay here and donít hesitate to Contact Us$ for help when you need it.
