Horrific photos show the fate of hundreds of dogs in China that are brought to restaurants to be killed and eaten. The graphic images show caged live dogs awaiting slaughter and canine carcasses piled on top of each other in a dog meat market in Yulin City, Guangxi Province, located in southern China.China has a long tradition of eating dogs in emergency situations where food is scarce.WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT
There is a difference eating domesticated dogs and dogs bred for eating. I ate dog when I was in Vietnam.

But if we are talking the difference between survival and starvation the line would be drawn quite simply....is the dog for mere decoration and companionship or can it catch food to benefit everyone involved?
If it is the first, I eat
If it is the latter, we eat
Same goes for any animal, and no don't bring cannibalism into this discussion because that is not what I am saying at all.

dog meat was tough and too spicy. i'll pass on ever eating it again.
sucks cause I love dogs. if it was a bunch of pigeons and chickens then it would be alright, but not dogs since Americans have them as pets. I don't want to see them as food but what snoops said. its their culture.

Just because we keep them as pets doesn't mean they aren't made of meat.
This
is
true

A simple inference could be made from your first post. You and I both are made of meat as well. Unfortunately, I have a little extra gristle (read: fat) on me than the next guy though. :o
And I agree that cannibalism is a totally different argument. I'm just bored.
For the record, I'm not totally ignorant to their culture. If anything, ours is the weird one what with pet rabbits, squirrels, and rats.

this.
It's ok to do this to chickens but not to dogs?

Don't get me started on pigs. I grew up on a farm. :o
And honestly I don't care much about this. I understand there is a large difference between my poodle and the dogs bred over there for such purposes. I was just bored.

I honestly thought it was a stereotypical "racist" joke that Asian people eat dog. I always went with the joke until I saw this, I am like horrified.
Nope I grew up around Laotian, Hmong, Viet and Koreans, because of that I have eaten dog, cat, horse and a lot of other meats that Americans wouldn't but it is totally acceptable in other cultures. Why eat a cow or ox when it can provide labor to harvest and grow crops which is a longer return than a few meals? So you eat what is abundant and has least impact financially.
