Been playing this for about 2 weeks after watching a TON of videos on it.
It's a First Person Shooter (Third Person works better) mod that was made from the game Arma II.
Arma II was a military simulator. This guy made a Zombie mod for the game and it has saved the company. lol
The mod is still in Alpha but has already made Arma II a top seller on Steam.
Basically, you are trying to survive in a zombie apocalypse. Your character has to eat, drink, and loot to accomplish this.
When you join a server for the first time, you are created. If you leave that server and come back later to any server without dying, you will pick up right where you left off. Same items, same stats, ect. If you die, you start all over with nothing and try to survive again.
The real beauty of the game is the PvP aspect. You can choose to be an asshole (a Bandit as referred to in the game), or a Survivor.
Anyone you run in to can either kill you or be "friendly". You can't trust anyone. Everyone is trying to survive, and they will murder you and steal all of your stuff. There can be up to 100 people on the server (most servers are from 30-50 max).
But the world you are in is HUGE. It's 225km of free roaming. There's tons of cities and whatever to explore and try and loot all you can.
You can repair cars and drive them, helicopters, buses, ect. There's just so much to do.
Anyways, yeah. Check it out if you want. It's $20 on Steam for Arma II and $20 for Arma II - Operation Arrowhead. But you can get the Combined Operations game from Steam for $30 which has both. The Expansion is required to play. Then you just download the DayZ mod from the site below: www.dayzmod.com
Let me know if you want to play. It's fun running around with a gang. :o
It's ridiculously big. It takes a good 20 minutes of running to get from one major city to another.
Also, the servers are in REAL time. So if the server is in Texas, it's on Texas time. If you join and it's night time, it will likely be night time for at least 4-5 hours.

That kinda sucks because I'd probably only be able to play at night.

Well, I mean it's up to the server to choose what "time zone" they are in.
I only get to play at night and it's usually pretty easy to find a game that is on a daylight time zone. I usually search for servers listed as UTC+5 or more. :o
