Default raced my 94 accord vs. my friends 97 legacy gt

he just got his legacy a couple days ago so i pulled up to the line with him just for fun. it was pretty even off the line through my first gear ( thanks to my autos instand torque), but once i hit second and he hit third, he pretty much raped me and won by about 2 car lengths. it seems like my car is so slow cuz the 4 gears are so spread out so that it takes its sweet time to rev up. while his tach shoots up to 6000 in like 2 sec. now my other friend wants to race me in his eclipse rs......i think ill have a better chance against that thing

There's a '97 Legacy wagon for sale by me. 130k. Looks to be in good condition (5 speed too) it's only $1,000. Apparently my friend knows the people and the dealer was going to give them $500, so...yeah, they know nothing about cars. I'm not sure I want a Legacy wagon.
