I pay $100/mo unlimited, however normal prices out here average $150. I pay less since I've known one of the owners for 10+ years.

I don't consider this being "ripped off", considering every time I go do a workout it's tailored to my needs and I always have a trainer looking over my movements.

Yeah, definitely not a rip off considering the tailored workout, individual attention, etc.

Compare the cost to a personal trainer. I did that for a long time at 40 per session. 100/mo is a hell of a deal for what you get.

forreal. I did my stepdaughter's "get ready for track season" workout this spring: walking lunges, jumping squats, wall squats, burpees and some other crap I can't remember. I think they call them burpees because they induce vomiting :o

Back and tris yesterday. Back at 95lbs skull crushers and 130lbs on the cable tricep pull-down (with a rope), but my weight is still down

Picked up cycling again after years of not even looking at a bike. Yesterday I did a 40 mile loop which brought my total mileage for the last week to right at 140.

Not too shabby for pushing a mtn bike with a mild off road rear tire and a semi street front, lots of rolling resistance I am saving for a road bike and have a goal of 100 mile loops by the end of next summer.

I had to give up running because my knees just won't take the abuse anymore

Been doing a 6 week to 5K training for running. It's a schedule for those that don't run at all .

It's been going well so far. Don't feel like I'm going to have a heart attack all the time now .

Just got done fixing my Geo and now off to do 25miles or so on the bike.

Looking into getting a touring bike by next spring then start preparing for a Trans America ride in the next couple years, thinking Oregon to Florida which should be right at 6k miles and take about 3months.

$100/month is pretty good if you're getting 1-on-1 or small group attention from a trainer each time you go. I work as a personal trainer right now and we charge around $5/hr for groups for 3-6 people for 3 months at a time. I end up doing crossfit style workouts with them anyway. Crossfit, P-90x, and insanity from a scientific standpoint are great for getting you into shape, but they are terrible for progression once you get into a routine for 6 months.

Was on circuits and cardio solid for a while until I wrecked my car and had to deal with all kinds of bullshit. Got back on my running yesterday, will start lifting again after my forearm heals. I'm not sure what's going on with it, but I was sitting around one night and it all the sudden felt sore. Mainly on the top side of the forearm, but sometimes also on the underside....feels fatigued.

I'm 8 months into CrossFit and not finding this "terrible for progression" you speak of. Between June and this month, I've added +30lbs to my deadlift 1-round max and are able to do assisted handstand push-ups. I look forward to each day knowing there's going to be something different. Thank god I don't have to segment my week by "chest day, legs day, abs day" bullshit

That's awesome man. I agree crossfit workouts are both fun and challenging. It's a good change of pace from the normal strength training and cardio routines. I guess I'm generalizing a little bit because not all crossfit routines and/or instructors will use the same methods. I've heard cross fit involves a lot of max rep sets with little to no rest (IMO no one should be doing until they've perfected proper form) between exercise, which is good for endurance. If you want to great stronger for all the hard work your doing there are definitely better ways. You will plateau eventually if you don't follow some type of periodization.

Thank you. Yes, there are a minority of people who constantly do improper form in the CrossFit community, people like to blow this example way out of proportion. Thankfully I have trainers that will give me a lot of shit if I do practice incorrect form. The CrossFit gyms with poor instructors and programming don't last long. To put things into perspective, walk into any 24 Hour/LA Fitness gym and let's average how many people are doing exercises with improper range of motion/form.

On the "max rep sets," you heard wrong. On the "little to no rest," kinda wrong. You can rest as long as you like.

did booby day twice in a row this week because it just so worked out that Brandy could make it to the gym with me yesterday. I know you're not supposed to do the same thing twice in a row, but it felt good. Benched 185 10 by 3, which is better than I've done in a couple years, and my shoulders felt fine

So remember I weighed 193 about 3 weeks ago because I was stuffing calories? Well I trimmed down to a resting 186 thanks to a) no more of that mega calorie intake and b) stand up paddlesurfing that is a TREMENDOUS carido/core workout. Feels good man. Threw up 275 x 3 reps flat bench alone on Monday. Felt confident knowing I can do that alone.

And there are plenty of crossfitters who think that they are the gods of workouts. Does it work? Obviously. But so do lots of other workout programs. Some people prefer to segment workouts to specific muscle groups and concentrate on those. It's not "bullshit". Maybe it doesn't work for you, but it does for a lot of people. I don't hate on any kind of workout (except shake weight)...if it works for you, more power to you...do work son.

Werd, no hatorade here. My goal in working out is twofold: 1) to look sexy for phat, 2)to be in halfway decent shape. I accomplish #1 by doing the traditional weight routines... I've got a pretty decent figure just from doing this (and even half-assing it most days). I accomplish #2 by running, hiking & snowboarding. I'm sure crossfit would get both done in one fell swoop, but I don't like working so hard I feel like I'm going to barf. I also know that there are some days I have to take it easy due to a sore shoulder or neck. That, and I'm cheap. Like I've said before, every workout has it's merits, and if you stick with it, you will do good things.
