My workout is still going, but my diet is terrible for the past 2 months. :O ice cream is a beautiful invention. Gained a few lbs since the competition ended.

I don't typically have a spotter for flat db press, threw up the weight and lost concentration and pounded the bench with my neck. Hurt a bit after that. Went to do incline db press and felt a large zing in my neck .

I went do teh bodypod test last night.

    201.5 BW
    156.9 lb mean mass
    44.6 lb fat

so 22.1% BF. Not bad considering I was probably somewhere around 53-56% before.

I'm going to go back in 3 months to re-test so I'm really going to tighten my diet up and start working out a bit more (biking and running again in addition to crossfit).

Worked a full day then decided to catch a ride before the sun went down, ended up getting a new 10 mile record of 29:32.

Not a bad way to end a day at all

Still keeping up with my schedule of 20 minutes of cardio, 5-6 days a week. I am down to about 175 lbs now. Probably the lightest I have been since middle school. My wife is dragging me to her pilates class today -- not sure how I feel about it.

    Prepare yourselves. Long post incoming.

So I posted a couple weeks ago that I joined a gym. I've been going a little bit over the weeks, and I really like the joint. Considering it's $30 a month and open 24/7, I love the joint. I've found that my fitness goals have changed a bit since I was last in shape. I used to train for mass and power, but it kind of bores me now. After some consideration, I think I'm going to give the crossfit thing a go.

I've found myself feeling like a bit of a hypocrite with what my job has entailed lately. I've been giving more medical consultations, and Louisiana being the obese state it is, I more often than not have to tell someone they're going to have to change their lifestyle and in a hurry. I work in a Psychiatric facility, and a lot of Anti-depressants/psychotics etc can make diabetes occur much more easily. Well, my lifestyle sucks lately too. In fact, I haven't bought any new clothes in over a year because I keep saying I'm going to wait until the weight is off first.

So I'm in the worst shape of my life. Or, almost the worst shape. Weighed in at 197 tonight. My gym has a room about 30'x120' with row machines, kettleballs, tractor tires, a beam with about 30 rope attachments, jump boxes, you name it. It's not the best crossfit setup I've ever seen, but it's pretty respectable, and no one uses it from what I've seen. Like I said, traditional strength training has grown a bit stale for me, so I'm looking to expand. It was always hard to keep mass in the past, and considering I'm pretty into cycling now that makes it even more challenging. I'd much more like to be generally fit than to be able to squat 350 and bench my body weight for twenty. Plus, it's hard to lose weight and gain mass at the same time.

So, I think I'm going to try this for a bit to see if it grows on me. Anybody have any good links for general information or routines? I'm going to search around reddit for a while and see if there's anything I like. For people that do this kind of routine, does it get monotonous? I really need something I find "fun", or I struggle to do it consistently. I'll let you know how it goes. I rowed 1000m in just under 4:30 and was huffing. Then I did about 15 36" box jumps and almost passed out.

Spanky, I need some insight on this crossfit you speak of. :o

I've given it a really hard time in the past, but I've figured out I usually just hate the elitest tards rather than the exercise itself. :o

    don't knock me because i bought nike's.

but i bought a pair of nike running shoes and my first thought was "oh, that's what support feels like."

not really running in them per se, but it'll be good for my bike, elliptical and walking the dogs.

they are so springy and i feel like i just want to take off sprinting :o

much different compared to my air force one's and all my slip on dress shoes.

It gets a lot of bad rep mainly because there are so many videos of jackasses using bad form, etc. Obviously, like everything, those who want to make it look bad can make it look bad with ease.

I know there is a box (Crossfit Hammond) near you. Give them a ring and they would probably give you an intro and let you check out the gym.

I actually went to two free sessions a little while back.

Aaaand that's the main reason why I was turned off of xfit. There was a lot of douchebaggery afoot, and it left a bad taste in my mouth. It's also $150+ a month, whereas my gym is $30/month and has all the same basic equipment. In fact, the only thing I can't do in my gym that I could at the other place is bang the medicine balls off the wall.

And, I like going on my time. Not theirs.

Had a good day cycling, totalled out at 56 miles and could have gone further but dinner was calling me.
So I came home and made spinach stuffed portabellos with mozerella over them and some corn on the cob.

Just hit 198 this morning, hoping it holds and I can still drop a few more

Making a diet change as well, not by choice but out of necessity I am cutting red meat and pork. My body hasn't been digesting it well over the last couple years apparently. Tested the theory over the last couple months by going a week or two on straight vegetarian diet and had no issues, a couple weeks of chicken and fish in my diet and no issues, added red meat back in and the digestion issues popped back up.

so with this being the case I am cutting red meat and pork out for the most part except once in a while....but you can bet if there is elk or deer on the plate I am eating that shit faster than you can cook it.

Went. On a little ride today and ended up doing 66 miles completely unplanned
Personal distance record on the mountain bike. I need to get some bike shorts at some point, this iron butt riding is getting a little old

Oh and went out the other day and ordered my touring frame so time to save for the parts to build it. Gonna recycle a couple parts off the mtn bike but its gonna be a bit before I get the wheels.

Rode 72.01 miles today, went looking for hills to climb and I found one. Steep as hell road about 3 miles to the top, ended up stopping once because it was 100 degrees out and I was burning up a bit, took 10 minutes to catch my breath and some water then finished it out.

Took a panoramic shot I need to stitch together and I will post it when I am done.
For now it is Tilapia, couscous salad and a grip of water, then off to bed.

Standing solid at 200 right now after bouncing between 198-210 so this is an improvement, seems to now flucuate between 200 and 205.

Looking at maybe dropping another 15 to hit 185 then over winter hit the gym and work on some muscle strength. Going to be focusing more on light to medium weight but high reps so I get useable lean muscle instead of bulk. Trying to keep the build for high endurance and high cardio which will help me with the cycling.

Been dropping slowly but that is good IMO because it shows the changes I am making are long lasting changes and I will be able to maintain it easily as long as I don't get slack again.
