well I love my iphone but I am absolutely sick of ATT so I am jumping ship. I don't want the Droid as I am trying to cut my phone costs down not keep them the same.

Right now I am looking at the Samsung Rogue...anybody have any other suggestions? QWERTY a must and the Rogue has Flash for it's browser which is a plus. I need something that can still handle html web surfing.

I had a BB before my iphone, and really I don't need the "business" aspect of it, and I am not really a fan of the interface all that much.

Gahhh the Rogue is a dumbphone, and the reviews suck, don't go for it.

How do you plan to save money by switching if you still keep a data plan?

The Omnia II is coming out soon, otherwise there's the HTC Touch Pro2 or Imagio (same thing w/ or w/o keyboard, and the Imagio has a nicer camera) WinMo phones, and coming out in addition to the Motorola Droid is the HTC Droid Eris which is basically the same as the Sprint HTC Hero.

cause the way they work the iphone data plan it is rape. I am paying 120 a month for my iphone and I can get the same useage out of verizon at 70 a month. That extra 50 bucks a month is well worth it to me to switch to a new service that covers more area and has better service etc.

every review I have read on the rogue has been very positive...do you have links?

HTC makes Windows Mobile and Android phones. They've made a lot of progress in cleaning up the interfaces on both. Not quite iPhone slick but pretty decent.

What iPhone plan do you have?

On VZW with a smartphone you'd be on PDA/Smartphone Nationwide Email & Messaging 900 which is $119. Dumbphone you could do Nationwide Connect 900 for $89 or if you want vCast crap in addition to data then Nationwide Premium 900 for $99. well I am bumping my minutes down to 450, if I could go lower I would. I used to use voice a shit ton, but really just text anymore. I have like 6000 roll over minutes on ATT and prob. use about 300 a month if that. I don't want Vcrap. In reality for what I need right now I want full HTML browsing and good text capabilities.

T-Mobile 3G is spotty and not quite on the right frequencies to get full coverage with an iPhone.

You're jailbroken already right? If you can wait, sign up for a Google Voice invite. You can then send texts for free using GV Mobile from Cydia.

I haven't used it myself so not sure really how it works. From some searching around it looks like there are a couple of roundabout ways to accomplish it but not quite as seamlessly as the Messages app.

There's a couple ways to use Prowl to set up push notifications and then you would just open the GV Mobile app once you see the popup.

To clarify: the popup won't take you directly to the GV Mobile app, you'll have to do that yourself once you see the notification. As opposed to a regular text message sent to your AT&T phone number the popup you can click Reply to go to the Messages app.

The joy of the Omnia is that you can change your UI to MANY different styles. There is even a lot of work on getting Android onto the phone.

Wait til the 2 if you really want to since one of my only gripes is that it doesn't have a 3.5 jack so you have to use samsung proprietary connectors which are bulky.

I've been running 6.5 for about months now. It is WORLDS better over 6.1. I think there is even a WM7 being worked on as well.

Lee, check out ppcgeeks and modaco for aftermarket support for virtually any phone.
